some pics of my project

This was taken a year ago - has come on alot since then.

This is the EJ18 motor from a '91 Subaru Legacy. It has a carb & distributor rather than fuel injection so should make for an easier install.

Adaptor & flywheel are from Kennedy. I am putting a T25 radiator underneath with the original subaru fan.

It's almost finished now, it's been painted, engine is in & wiring is connected. working on the exhaust & cooling next.

Yes, I got the adaptor shipped from the USA. still worked out cheaper than anywhere in the UK!

Hi Darren

I recognise the registration of your van - I might have seen it at microblast maybe?

I'm in Jesmond btw.

Hi Mark

Your just over the river from me mate.
I bought the Camper back in September 2005 from Stockton but it hasn't been on the road since Feb 2005 . . . So if you've seen it, it must have been back then some time. . . .
The state it was in I'm amazed it's been on the road at all in the last 10 years....lol

Just goes to show you can't judge anything by just a picture as it dosn't look to bad there.... But it was.... It's a NIGHTMARE.
We'll have to meet up somtime. Are you a member of Angel VW Club ?
http://www.ourmanupnorth.co.uk/angelvw/avw.html
I'm going to attend some of their monthly meeting over the next few months.

I had a look at your site, looks like you've done loads of work on the van. Mine probably wasn't quite as bad as that.

I don't go to the Angel Club meetings, I'm too busy working on the van! maybe when it's finished...

Grin Looking good there Mark, that chopped up front looks just like mine did....lol
Been doing more work on my van this week and made the most of a good day yesterday to get some paint flowing . . . . I'll update the site later and the forum.
I've never been to the Angel club meetings either but think I'll call in sometime in the near future as they go for day trips and cruises quite often so it sounds good, they have said the Covin would be well received so think I'll go in that. Be even better once my Campers done.

Let's see MORE pictures of your van. . . .

Hi JP...
Think it would be rude not to call it Karl really, it does seem the obvious choice . . . lol
I'd also like to know the colour of your Van Mark as my friend wants his Camper light blue and as I'm going to rebuild it for him that colour might be just the ticket.
I think every Camper on the planet was orange at some stage....lol

The blue colour is L54D Marina Blue. The colour is used on beetles from the same year but not on vans i think.

Cheers for the paint details Mark, nice one m8....
Going to try to get some work done on my Camper today and let's hope we've seen the last of the frost and Sub Zero Temp....lol...
When do you think your Van will hit the road Mark?
I was hoping to get mine ready for June but I think I'll need "Gandalf's wand" for that to be possible. Grin
