Evening, ive been looking round to confirm fitting gauges for Oil Pressure/Water temp into my 2000 EJ25 Beetle conversion and need clarification..
Oil Pressure
Im going to use the 1/8 bsp existing sender location under the alternator and t piece it off and install as follows
a) Install the Gauge sender and wire to gauge
b) Install the Subaru exisiting sender and wire to the VW Speedo Oil pressure light
Coolant temp, this is the awkward bit
My existing sensor is a 3 wire without a seperate sensor underneath (theres only one sensor) am i able to remove this, install the gauge sender and then wire to the gauge ?
I'm asking because when i've looked at the subaru wiring diagram there are 3 wires from the sensor, one to instrument cluster light, one to air intake and one to Tps/Shield ground and don't want to remove it if it will cause any problems
Or im thinking of fitting an inline sender housing into the coolant hose (im assuming from the water pump side) and wiring the gauge wire to that..
Thanks for any assistance |

Hi
I drilled and tapped my coolant cross pipe near the factory sender and fitted a a VDO sender, on my EJ207 there was nice flat spot that was perfect to use. I had my motor in an engine stand so I tipped the motor over so that the shavings just fell out.
I did the same as your thinking for oil pressure but I ran a short length of braided hose up to a T piece to get a little bit room.

It's been awhile since I did this but I believe the plug. The oe oil pressure switch is screwed into csn be purchased from Subaru. I know I had s spare engine at the time and took s plug from that and screwed my VDO oil sender into this. _________________ Think......
