Fuel pump query

Having a think about the fuel pump options for my ej25 subaru conversion..

1)Ive still got the subaru fuel pump and was looking at welding it into the vw tank like ricola etc but worries about the danger of it(new tank only £53 from gsf so could do that). Would i still need a surge tank with this setup?

2)external high pressure pump along with a lifter pump to surge tank.. Problem with this is location as its a std beetle and not much room...

You can modify your tank to have a 12mm fuel outlet, this negates the requirement for a surge pot with lift pump. Then just run a high pressure pump such as a Bosch 044.
