Looking at the wiring diagram (attached) I am correct in that the warning lights get a positive feed from the battery via the (in my case) green/white wire coming from the IGN relay, which is then given a negative feed from either the ECU (CEL) or various sensors (Oil pressure, alternator).
My problem is that I'm getting a positive feed coming from the ECU on the red/white wire for the CEL.
Could it be down to the fact that the loom isn't grounded on the engine side of so the current is finding an alternative route to earth? Would this cause damage to the ECU?
I was unable to get the OBD2 connector to work until I grounded the black/blue wire and this turned the CEL and immobiliser lights off completely until the ground was removed. Thoughts?
