Hi can anyone help????

I'm helping my mate put a 2.0l Subaru lump in his split

This is to replace his 2.5 that he's had issues with

The 2.0L has the white 88 pin ecu multi plug which like others on here I struggled to get wiring and pin out diagram for. Luckily his 2.5L had the same multi plug and when comparing colours and pin out apart from two wires it was exactly the same.

From this I was able to build him a harness to fit his 2.0l. I have copied it over to get rev counter, fuel pump, main relay, engine light, and all feeds and earths.

The problem were having now is that it starts runs and cuts out after three seconds. It comes back with flash code 53. I've been able to get hold of a transponder key checker and this has been checked to match the immobiliser unit. I also have a piece of equipment that checks the pickup ring in the ignition barrel. This is where we have a problem. It's as if the ring is doing nothing

There are four wires that go directly back to immobiliser module and these have not been touched. Does anyone know what voltage I should see on these. For some reason I have 7v on the orange with ignition off which jumps to 10v with ignition on.

What we have tried so far is almost everything. Even fitting the old 2.5 key and barrel, immob module and ecu which all ran before but now just do the same. Start run and cutout.

It seems it must be something with the harness which I'm in the process of checking again

At dubfreeze yesterday I checked a bus with same tester and as soon as ignition was switched on the tester picked up the transponder ring pickup so I know this is where the fault lies. Obviously it has been replaced with the known working one from the 2.5

If anyone can help it would be appreciated

Yeh I've thought of that. I've got the old 2.5 harness back home now so will wire all the components back up to a power supply and see if I can get the old harness to pick up on the transponder

The thing is there is no earth point on either engine harness. All earths are through the ecu which is then earthed to the van through the body.

It's starting to pickle my head

Do you have the white 88 pin ecu plug and do you know where they go to?

Cheers for your help

Cheers again for your help. All sorted missed a splice joint in the harness that goes to immobiliser module.

On the plus side I now know inside out and have the information for the white 88 pin connector if anyone needs it
