|
|
Hello all! You haven't heard from me in a while, but that's because the scooby convo runs pretty okay!
I have two minor issues though:
1: I get but one fault code. I get it during hard acceleration (over 4000 RPM). It is #33, listed as a VSS fault in the EJ22 '93 lists. But I thought these car's didn't have a VSS. Anyone any clue?
2: when I start, I sometimes get a noise like the bender of the starter doesn't engage. This only started to happen after the convo. Might this have anything to do with the wiring, say too little earth to the chassis?
Love to hear from you!
Cheers,

Regarding your vss, there is no golden rule as to which ecu's require a speed sensor. Personally I think they all should have one. Your donar vehicle would have got its VSS signal from the speed sensor in the vehicle clocks, would have been driven by the speedometer cable.
I'm having the same problems your experiencing at the moment however I've got a VDO speed sensor fitted to my vehicle however the thing just doesn't work. Well it's incredibly temperamental. As I can I'm changing to a later subaru bug eye speed sensor which is run off the gearbox.
Anyway get a speed sensor and it should cure you error code 33. _________________ Think......

Ah, thanks. That clears it up. Now, to find a VSS.
Any thoughts on the starter issue? _________________ Greetings from Sietze

Rjes do a good vss, it goes between the speedo and the cable going in to the speedo, all you have to do is run the 3 wires from the vss to the ecu when fitted, saves faffing with brackets etc.
Check your starter earth and other connections. |
