Hi all,
I have an 85 t25 camper with a Subaru ej22 engine fitted using RJES stuff,
Recently I seem to be losing water from the header tank when my engine gets hot also seems to be running between 185 - 200F according to my gauge.
Had the tank out and it doesnt look split and fitted a new cap just to be sure, just been for a run, temp keeps going between 180 - 200, seems ok when driving but when idling gets hot and fan cuts in, look round the back and the fat pipe from the thermostat is wet from water coming out of the header tank.
Tried to bleed as much as I can from the rad, but still happening. also when idling, if the temp goes up, get the revs up and the temp goes down.
Anyone any ideas.
I have heard head gaskets banded around here....

I have a T25 header tank in my Bay and it leaked from the level indicator plug. Under load it would force the water up the plug and out around the contacts....took me a year to suss where it was coming from. Bought a complete new header tank and sender thingy and been fine since.
Good luck in finding the problem
Cheers

Hi
I've split a few, can you get hold of a pressure tester to put the system under pressure?
Are you using an overflow tank?
I had a faulty cap once that didn't release pressure and split the reservoir.

After market caps are notoriously shite, make sure you get a genuine one _________________ 1989 VW Magnum Multivan EZ30 |
