anyone done the Land Rover 300TD injection pump conversion on a VW TDI engine? I've just dragged home an AFN 110BHP donor and I'm just at the research stage on the Landy pump. It's between the pump conversion and just biting the bullet and dealing with the TDI wiring. I like the idea of having the diagnostic port and the option for ECU tuning but all that would be lost with the Landy pump. Mind you, it would simplify the installation with just a throttle cable and a handful of wires needed to make it run.
I've read somewhere that the VW 1.6D pump bracket can be used on the AFN for a no-machining installation. Otherwise you're getting into machining of the AFN pump bracket. Also I read that a PD cam pulley can be used on the Landy pump to give an adjustable pulley. If anyone has any experience, can you offer any advice?
thanks |

| Trev, mine was a 200 landy pump. The three mounting holes on the pump need to be slotted and the big mount on the block needs the hole enlarging. Tdi belt pulley goes straight on the pump. The pump pulley needs advancing 2 teeth to get it to run. Final timing needs setting with a dial gauge and the lift needs to be 1mm @Tdc. |

bit of a thread revival here... whats the benefits of doing this?
Im running a AFN which is running around 150bhp at the moment and plan on getting more power out of it. so just wondering if theres any power benefits from doing this?
does it have a bigger pump head? |

I have a 300tdi pump on an AHU 90bhp 1.9tdi engine, I can confirm it makes tuning much easier, it's all done with manual adjustments. I'm pretty sure mines now running around 100-110bhp on a bog stock engine and with only 2 wires to run it!
However (and please correct me if I'm wrong) the 110 and 130 engines are not best suited for MTDI because they use VNT (variable vane) turbos which use the ECU to control the boost. In this case you either have to develop some form of mechanical VNT controller or change the turbo for a conventional wastegated turbo.
If you do change the turbo I believe you can get around 200bhp using the 2/300tdi pump and correct tuning. _________________ It WILL be ready for the summer, just like it was going to be ready for last summer. And the one before that... |
