Rare chance to buy a very straight and reliable 1965 splitscreen panel van. For sale due to a baby on the way!
This van has been with us for about 6 years and has had a lot done to make it what it is here.
Since we bought it we have bare metal resprayed it in origional dove blue paint, fitted the custom interior and fitted the superb subaru engine.
The van is very straight and always passes the MOT with no advisories or failures.
Tax exempt and long MOT.
Agreed insurance valuation of £17000.
There is so much to list so i will keep it short and sweet:

Engine and running gear -
Engine removed from a 1996 subaru legacy, the car was very well looked after and the previous owner was gutted when i said i was going to break it up! The engine is a 2L non turbo with about 130BHP so it now drives up hills with no struggling and shocks everyone at the traffic lights! The engine conversion is done using the wiring loom from the subaru legacy and incorporates the subaru engine management and the engine diagnostics so should there ever be a fault you will know from a fault light in the dash and can read the faults as in a subaru. The engine conversion is done in such a way that the van is not altered/damaged so should you ever want to go back to standard you can very easily. The wiring modified by RJES is simply plugged in to the standard VW wiring loom.
Exhaust system is part subaru headers (exhaust heat wrapped) with a Mondo muffler back box that sounds great but not that OTT typical subaru noise, also the mondo muffler confuses many as its a muffler fitted to a lot of air cooled motors so gives a stealthy engine conversion!
The cooling is taken care of a belly mounted rad with a air scoop and has not overheated ever, even on the hottest summer days. All pipework is ally with silicone.
The engine is connected to the gearbox using a Kenedy engineering adapter plate with a stage 3 pressure plate and organic clutch.
The gearbox is a IRS1303 GT beetle gearbox with strengthened release bearing forks.
The IRS conversion is also from a beetle using brand new CV joints.
Rear brakes are VW type 3 wide 5 drums to give extra braking power at the rear, fully reconditioned with new cylinders and shoes.
The front beam is adjustable and narrowed 4" using slamwerks side plates and beam adjusters in both torsion beams.
The front spindles have been dropped to lower the front 3.5" without destroying the ride quality.
Front shocks are Spax adjustable ones.
Front brakes fully refurbished with new cylinders and shoes.
Brakes system has been replaced with a VW Jim dual circuit servo assisted brake master cylinder and copper pipework.
Genuine Rader alloy wheels (not cheap copies)

Bodywork -
Bare metal resto with L31 dove blue paint. (the painter said its one of the straightest he's seen)
No welding required.
Very straight van.
Safari windows.
I have 2 rear valances that are uncut if you want them.
Look at the pics and see!

Interior -
Custom retrim on front seats in blue and cream vinyl with matching rear seating and rock n roll bed (blue bird customs)
The long seat shown in the rear is removable and i was going to convert to a camper but priorities have now changed!
A bar area is fitted behind the front bulk head with mirror backing and led lights.
Pop out dvd cd player with ipod/mp3 connector. 12" sub, 6x9 speakers in the rear and some smaller speakers behind the front seats.
Retro blaupunkt radio in the dash. (not connected)
Mad mats sea grass cab carpet set.
Thick wooly rear carpet.
Rear lap belt.
Wolfsburg crested front seat belts.

Included -
Roof rack. (nice reconditioned flat 4)
Spare rear bumper.
2.x rear valances.
New head liner.

General -
The stereo and led lights currently require a leisure battery but i do not have one any more. These can connect these to the main battery that is relocated under the rear seat if desired or just get a leisure battery if you want one.
A head liner is included but isnt fitted.
Door cards need trimming to your taste by you.
Bar unit needs the top painting/ trimming.
Although the bodywork is fairly good there are a few bits to note. The front panel could do with a repair as some of the paint has cracked, the near side rear corner has some bubbling (i think this is where the inner tray is welded) there is a srcape down the nearside from someone in a carpark.
These bits are easy to fix and would cost no more than £400 th have repaired but i dont have time or cash!
I may have missed loads so come and have a look and a drive.
Viewings at the weekend or evenings in Rugby, Warwickshire. Please contact me, Paul, If you want to view etc.
Sorry to everyone seeing this that asked to buy it over the years but i didn't save any of your details as i thought i would never sell!
I reserve the right to remove if i win the lottery change my mind/come to my senses etc.
