Vehicle & model: VW Bay type 22/camper van
Year: 1975
Engine details:
EJ22 NA from Subaru Legacy 1993
Transmission:
091 6-rib long gearing (as found in 2l Bays) and RJES bellhousing
MPG: 35 MPG (± 10KM/L)
1/4 mile time: unmeasured
0-60: unmeasured
Top speed: over 140KM/H
Cooling system details:
- belly mounted rad: (Citroen Xsara)
- expansion tank (Golf III or similar)
- heaters: VW Polo (in front, ducted to totem)and T25 (under R&R bed)
- reversed cooling manifold (RJES)
- dual slim fans. Fans are switched by separate temperature sensor and switch on at 95C. In city driving and during traffic they turn on. Otherwise temperature sits around 92C. There's a LED on the dash showing status of the fans and a manual override switch (never needed sofar)
Other non conversion mods:
solar panel to charge leisure battery, central doorlocking
Drove it for over 1500km now without major issues, other than tightening a clamp here and there. Scoop doesn't foul speed bumps.

The van:
Engine:
- air intake on the left as near the vent opening as possible with open air filter
- on the right the expansion tank and the fuel filter on the firewall
- homemade engine support using Subaru rubbers
Exhaust: bits and bobs lying around using shortened subaru headers without the heat shields
