We are using a 2000 ej20 engine and have used rjes conversion parts. We have just recently fired it up and it sounds great on our temp made exhaust. We have not gone far in it as we do not have a temperture gauge yet but we seem to have a promblem that from idle speed to accelerating it seems to flat spot then all the power rushes in at once jolting you forwards.we did a diagnostics test and got code 24 and code 53
. we then realised the servo vacum pipe was open and we have now blanked it off. we then ran the motor again and it still has the same problem but no fault codes are coming up. we have noticed that when the throttle body is shut the the engine still carrys on reving afterwards and takes a few seconds to settle down. any ideas?
thanks. |

Are you using a speed sensor?
If you are it would be worth checking that its working OK and the signal is getting to the ECU as that's typical behavior of no VSS signal. _________________ 1974 1303 Germanlook Suba-Beetle

| hi there thanks for the response and sorry i have not replied, i have not been on here for a while as ive just been trying to get the van through its MOT. I will have a play with the vss to see whats going on tommorow. I am pretty sure i have cured all the air leaks on the induction now and i have no fault codes. my engine still has a flat spot though. I unplugged the MAF sensor and my engine seemed to pick up a few revs. i took it for a spin and the engine ran fine with no flat spots what so ever. does this prove anything by doing this?. many thanks |
