Type 2 porsche 944 conversion - halfcompleted - brake advice

Hey all
im in the middle of a porsche 944 brake conversion
the donor car was an early s1, have based it on a previous conversion done on here. Swing arms, spring plates etc, drivshafts completed.
Was wondering if you could help with fairly simpe bolt on caliper upgrades as the donor calipers arent that great
any advice would be great thanks!

im fairly certain there is a bolt on kit available in the porsche community to do this using the MO30 brembo stuff - might be worth having a look on their forums to check,but I think (been a while since i did this) that S1 turbos had the brembos on the narrower arms whereas the later S2 had brembos as standard but also had abs and therfore wider arms.
That said to be honest unless youve got big power I would expect the standard calipers to be more than capable. Have you thought about a pad upgrade....greedstuff/ red stuff etc might be and easier option.

So you've got the early steel army's an sliding calipers?

You can buy caliper rebuild kits from Porsche or probably from a brake specialist. It an easy task and very rewarding to rebuild a caliper. If the piston is corroded you should be able to find those too.

If that's no good you can buy a bracket to convert the steel caliper mount to accept the turbo's Brembo calipers.

I was told the early NA 944 was good for +200BHP and will stop any VW big or bus competently. I have the early brakes on my Notchback and I can vouch for them.

Thanks for the advice, im midway through my project, but ive kept it to a fairly high standard so was just seeing what people have previously done/ suggestions, i just thought a camper weighing over a ton more than the porsche might effect the braking.
I will have a look into what you guys have mentioned

if youve got ££ there will be bolt on alloy calipers also avaialble from the likes of AP racing and similar but TBH I would stick with the standard ones. I have a scooby turbo in my van and to be honest the brembos are still more for show than requirement!!
