Hi guys, my question is, is it possible to reverse the coolant manifold on an impreza engine without modifying it?
Simple question really, was going to get Rich at RJES to mod mine but he says neither of the 2 manifolds I have are suitable for reversing, ie it's too much work to alter them.
Thanks in advance.

It's certainly not possible on a phase one engine such as I have. The angle of the manifold fouls against the flywheel bell housing. Rich simply cuts it and rewelds it.

I have a phase one manifold spare I it's of any use to you. Can't remember what your running not that I think it would really matter.

Strange as I thought they were more or less all the same.

Certainly an EJ20,22,25 etc

Thanks for the offer Kai, i may just take you up on the offer, how much are you after for it?
The earlier manifolds were round for quite some distance but the later ones go almost square very quickly after where the pipe goes making it i assume difficult to weld to a good finish.
FYI i'm now running a 2004 STi 8 engine after my 1998 one went bang lol. Much nicer and smoother engine.

They did change somewhere along the line.

The one on my 2005 EJ25 was very different to the gen1 EJ22 I had.
I just swapped them over, the mounts are the same.
