I'm planning on a scooby ej20 engine in my bay.. I've heard copper doesn't go well with the ally block of the scooby..
So I guess rubber hose will have to do!
Where does everyone get theirs from? |

Coppers fine, tried and tested, nice and easy to work with too.
I used 28mm pipes,
I got mine from the local plumbers merchant (plumbase) paid £70 for 10 meters and a load of bends and straight couplers which work nice for finshing the pipe ends and as flarings for hoses.
People use plastic too... Which I thought wasn't a good idea but it's been done by many. _________________ Think......

Just keep it isolated from the cars metal by rubber mounts
That's the main time electrolysis occurs, when 2 dissimilar metals are in contact. _________________ 1974 1303 Germanlook Suba-Beetle

Give it a quick spray of paint to stop the copper corroding from salt etc _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

I covered the exposed copper with heatshrink. Gets rid of the DIY effect. _________________ Think......

| What about for heater line? Hose works out really expensive for the heater, and I'd like something solid-ish to run up front because hanging hoses that far would be a PITA. |

Again you can use copper piping, in the uk we can easily get hold of 10mm pipe.
However you can also use nylon pneumatic tube if you can get hold of it. I bought 30meters on fleabay for £25 and am using it for my charge cooler and will do the same when I get round to fitting a heater. Again it's wrapped in heatshrink as my neighbour keeps throwin it over our fence and I have plenty of it to get rid of. _________________ Think......

I got 5m of 38mm OD ally pipe for £25 and have used silicone elbows X5 and silicone U shaped pipes X2 and a meter of flexible silicone pipe. (all off ebay) For the heater/ expansion tank lines i used 16mm ID rubber pipe. Oh and about 25 jubilee clips. |

Alright. Make of this what you will.
My main shop choices are these:
Farm / commercial / industrial machinery shop. That's where I get my fittings, hoses and cables mostly. Also some tools.
Plumbing / miscellaneous supply store.
Tractor dealership / mechanic.
Internet with very slow /unreliable shipping. Been that way since september / october. Lost a lot of stuff the past few months. Which shop should I start looking for what I need /what would it be normally used for.
Big lines like the industrial oil line used as radiator hose I can get from the industrial supply place. Oddly cheaper than the narrower gauge stuff for the heater. I'm actually using some red high pressure line for a bleeder hose from rad to header tank. A decent chunk of the cooling system should be good for a few hundred PSI
By nylon pneumatic hose what is meant? I'm guessing not the clear nylon hose, and probably not poly pipe. I'll have to ask around for that.
This is a huge PITA. Until January there was no requirement for my bay to have a heater. It never even had one before that because the air pipe was removed for the water tank for the camper conversion. So I'm trying to figure out what I can put together for the least cash to get a passing grade so to speak.
I've found an old recirculating bus heater which I'm thinking of mounting under the back seat like that bloke did... but I can't find the thread today for some reason. Besides having no idea how to bleed something when the lines come up through the floor, I think it'd work great.
For heat to the front I can't use the air tube, besides not existing, the rad is between the frame rails and takes up all the vertical space. So my option is a heater core, and that left me stumped on what to use. I can bodge together something for the hot air, it's just getting the water there stopped me dead.
What are these rubber mounts that are talked of? |

| What are these rubber clips people are talking about? the main thing stopping me is I have no idea what I'm looking for to hold pipes. |
