|
|
Well it is about a year since I joined the world of bay window owners. My original plan was to just go and buy a running bus for about £5k which I thought I would get something quite presentable/usable as I have got far too amny other project to get involved with a bus. How wrong I was I could not believe the rubbish about for that sort of cash I gave up looking after view ing an numbe of possible buses and decided that getting the mig out was the best solution.
A month later I joined this website to find out more and as a result my plans chanded from a standard camper to a more modified item. I have gained a lot of inspiration from all on the site so I thought I would start a build link to let you know what I have been upto.
So here goes
I bought a dog as at least I cold see the rust however I must admit there was more than I first thought but I don't mind a bit of fabrication so ploughed on.
not a pretty sight but nothing a good shot blast would not sort out.
I have access to a blast unit so the best thing was to rollit over a remove anything that was not solid. I had build a roller for my Aston project I have to say I have never restored an car this way up before but what a difference it makes not getting splatter in your ear ever few minutes
I was shocked how little camper I was left with after blasting the bottom, Boy these things rust.
looks like it may stay in one piece now! |

The gutter were shocking but I have to say the pattern parts are a poor match and wish I had cut a section from a scrap van.
A some stages in this rebuild I di think that he scrap vans were better than the one I was putting back together!

Well I am sure you have all been through this stage and now as pleased as me to get it back from being painted.
I would like to say it was perfect but I am sure there are better body guys on here than me who will say the gaps are not mint but I am happy that it is now more that presentable to start sorting the mechanical side of things out. |
