exhaust silencer/pipes?

hi im doing a ej20 into a splitty conversion, what diameter exhaust pipe should i use? and what sort of size/specification silencer do i need? is there a law which governs it? also what diameter coolant pipes?

I've now used some SS from Jetex, rear box is now from a Caviler, maybe Vectra, £38.

Main coolant pipes 38mm I/D (IIRC) Holds approx 1litre/metre
Heater 15mm I/D (plumber's copper fittings are your friend along with rubber tube)
