Happy Picked an engine up yesterday and removed the remaining common rail injection gear that was left on the engine , then machined one of the pump brackets mounting points from a D Turbo engine as only two bolt positions lined up one more to sort out before running ,

I built the MTDi pump for this job a while ago using a late 115brake VAG TDi pump , just need to find some better injectors , also got a few sets of injectors but not totally happy with them so will search a bit more whilst also looking for a VNT turbo unit

you can just make out one of the tried injectors BMW 320d these are a little tall and not too good to hold in position

Finally had some more time setting up the fuel pumps , I'm using one now based on the rover 25/200 45/400 2.0L , this type of pump rotates the wrong way but is set up for a 2.0L and uses an 11mm plunger & head with less lift on the cam plate than the VW TDI pump so will be good for higher RPM's ,

Basically the cam plate was replaced with one of the same lift with the correct rotation the advance piston + springs reversed

main plunger dialled in and new drive slot spark eroded in a position so it lines up for the correct rotation replaced the cam plate 180 degrees out so the locating bolts line up for when changing cam belt and firring order corrected ,

This pic shows the old exhaust system , it's now a couple of inches shorter due to turbo position

main plunger with new slot

The temp senders on the HDi engines are a different thread diameter and pitch to the XUD9's and left no room for me to make an adaptor to fit the vw sender with M10 x 1mm thread , or my after market temp gauge , but when looking on a stall at Vanfest I noticed on a stall with many new parts which included temp sensors for T25 /T3 syncro only- I bought one because it looked so close to what I needed - I was correct , the pic below shows the temp gauge being checked ( both sensors were placed in a kettle ),,

few vids of it now ,
