|
|
Hi,
I have a slight problem, when im in 3rd or 4th gear and i put my foot to the floor its as if i flood it or something theres no imediate power if i back off and accelerate slowly its fine, also if i just accelerate slowly its fine but when i dump the pedal its like there is no power there its kinda feels like its miss firing than all of a sudden i get power back.
Hope this makes sense. Also my fuel pump is whinning really loud i wonder if these two problems are connected. It revs fine under no load ie just stationary.
I dont really know where to begin, im thinking to change the fuel pump to a wallbro anyway.
So anyone had a similar problem?
thanks guys |

apologies read this quick lunchtime on the phone so missed..title ej22 avatar t25
If a new tank fitted since the conversion then it would make no sense to put in a non 2.1 fi tank..easy check would be compare the out and return pipes on the tank they should see a difference in dia`s (8mm return 12mm to pump thats internal dias obviously, std tank both same)
If you have been running for a while ok and the noise has got louder i would advise to carry a spare pump, recently happened to me, got louder for a coupla days then i was kissing the windscreen and stranded.
Still not quite sure of the root cause as ive been running a new FI tank for 99% of the conversion however seemed to start getting noisier after the tank went below the 1/4 mark , previously ive always stayed above that. _________________ 1988 T25 EJ25 n/a.. it just makes more sense that way.. |

Hey up,
I agree with Rich, check fuel tank outlet is the appropriate size and also that your fuel pump isn't up the spout. It's the obvious place to begin especially if it's been getting louder over a few days.
If these don't get you anywhere then I'd start looking at the induction side of things. I had a similiar problem with a MK2 golf. Kept stuttering in the higher gears, lack of power and it turned out to be the airflow meter which was at fault. Strangely enough it went over night. But then as Rich mentioned it could also be a problem with the air filter too. _________________ Think......

ok guys thanks alot for your suggestions i really appreciate it.
I will check the tank this weekend, when i change my front shocks, got some nice avo adjustables, hopefully this will cure the bouncing!!
I guess this is the problem with buying someone elses project you have to go over everything!
What fuel pump do you recomend? all i know is that mine is blue. I saw a thread where some people had jags some people had beetle efi's.
Also mine has the fuel filter BEFORE the pump, i guess i should chane this also.

thanks soooo much again.
Just spoke to Richard at rjes and he will sort me out with new fuel filter etc. What a nice guy!
Thanks for the bumpstop advice ill see whats going on under there at the weekend. Its on avo 70mm springs apparently, i thought lowered springs were meant to be stiffer but its like a lowrider bouncing all over the place!.
Probably the worst vehicle in terms of ride quality ive ever driven and ive had alot of poo boxes too. Everything from old beetles to smart cars. |

What they said...
Lines
Pre-pump filter if fitted
Pump (& internal filter)
and then your worse nightmare (actually it was mine)... tank failing to breathe. _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

my panel is running 70mm avo springs - you need to take all of the bumpstop ribs off. mine doesn't bounce at all running this setup with bilstein b4 shocks.
oh, and good taste with the mods on the T25 - almost as good as mine
