Saw this mentioned on another forum, thought you guys would appreciate it too!
What do you get when you cross a Boxster S with a 1303:
Amazingly the wheel base is the same, just the wings needing adjustment for the aditional width... Overall I reckon this is a cheap way of getting an ultimate German Looker, you could buy a complete panel-damaged boxster for what a lot of guys drop on just the engine... _________________ http://www.ricola.co.uk |

Stick it through Babelfish or Google translater, German to English. I found you can't open the pdf's of the magazine articles with the links google creates.. _________________ http://www.ricola.co.uk |

good conversion modern day version of the norstadt 914 bug .....
one problem i can see, isn't there an issue with some of the engine bearings in early boxsters ? like their not made anymore... someone brought it up on one of the forums about using a subaru engine as a replacement. _________________ 52 vwrx |

I know I was told to lookout for leaky RMS's when I bought mine ! and I heard that the IMS is a known issue but these tended to go in the 1st 40k of the car so I just went for one with 50k+ on it
Seems a bit mad about the bearings to me ! _________________ 1971 Devon Bay with 1800 Ford Turbo Diesel Engine (wip)

the answer is to fit a 996 engine instead. |

Thats cool!
Funny how only earlier I was looking at the Nordstadt bugs to show someone, then I came across that on here!
Its quite cool in the sense it has porsche power, porsche brakes, (aircon?), ABS and all the modern suspension, all shoehorned under a beetle which is what us lot are trying to do on an average day!
I do wonder if the same would be possible using something like a golf as the base and putting a bug on top!
The only thing I am curious about is the cooling system on it, its got one of the grill type front valances but from the photos it just seems to have the radiator in the front with no means for the air to pass through. As I'm going to be sticking a front valance on the same for my 1302 bug to put a rad in it would be nice to see a bit more of how they did it.
Anyone know if there is a detailed build up thread anywhere on the internet anywhere?
Saying about the wheel base being the same, its funny how actually alot of cars have the same centre of axle to centre of axle measurements, like for instance the beetle and the camper, such very different layouts with the van being miles bigger, but still only having the same axle centre to axle centre (about 8ft)
Cool project though _________________ Second Gear All The Way Baby!

Wow - that has to be the best hybrid car project I have ever seen. I can't imagine how many hours of measuring and cutting muct have been put in to get the Beetle body to fit a Boxster 'floor' that neatly.
When I read the thread title and saw who had posted it, I wondered if it was your latest project Rich, until I read the thread. _________________ Regards,
