hi all has any one tried putting in a remote stat and taking out the subaru stat? the new stat position being on the outlet side of the engine or the hot side.i suppose an attempt to stop thermal shock on the original stat . i have tried it on my t25 lawn mower to subaru ej20 conversion, it seems to work better relieving air more rapidly, after many failed attempts to get what seems to be better circulation.would be really interested to see what you all think.cheers madmegs....

I'm doing this, have done it before with K series engines and also persuaded a mate to do it on his sti powered speedster replica and he reports it works very well...

which stat did you use and at what tempreture was it set,ive used a bmw stat an 80 c one but you have to use it backwards. i think its designed to go in the return from the rad. ive also seen the landrover ones which would work as well i would think. cheers madmegs

yes i placed the standard stat at the outlet of the water manifold on top of the engine

my radiator is way up the front via stainless steel pipes and the thermostat never got hot enough water to open which put extreme pressure on the system

i made a housing for the standard thermostat by using housings from the EJ22 and EJ20T...they are kind of opposite hand and rotated 90 deg sort of...had to fabricate a little spacer for in between...works brilliantly...reaches operating temp in a couple of minutes Cool
