hello all iv,e got a question...
My 1.9 dg wbx in a t25 now has a crater in it ,this was a recon a year ago .some hope on warranty yeah rite ,basically i want to keep van it needs an engine i'll give it a go but im skint ish (still paying of last one) so price wise and labour issues are my thing.
I live on a council estate so dont/cant just pull in doner car.i am looking at all options i would like power / economy but hey ho,iv,e done engines before but always like 4 like so no drama .
Me vans funked so cant go collecting bits as such however i do have a small breakers around the corner who only does vw so other than getting bits to rebuild what i,ve got ,any suggestions on what else would be welcome i am trawling and learning but reality is ,low cost decent/easyish ie matching things adapters gearbox the like.
Im sick to back teeth at mo yes i,ve still got some, i mean ive got to do it but im on a budget with limited time tax/permit up on 10 th month plus it,s my only wheels please be gentle explainitry and well gentle im not stupid mabe a bit thick as a lot of this is new to me .learning curve they call it thanks in advance. |

Hi there DJ biz r intrigued by the name !
5 Cylinder 2.2 sounds a good choice should have a few more beans than yer old 1.9wbx. So have you got the engine ? or are you on the hunt ? Am I right in thinking they fit these engine in South African bus
I would suggest posting any techy question you might have on fitting one of these in the Volks Power section I'm sure the font of all knowledge VAG 13 window deluxe will have some views opinions on this motor.
What's the deal with mounting these to the box ?looking at this thread suggests diesel bellhousing is no go and a SA bell housing is what you need http://vwkd.co.uk/bb/viewtopic.php?t=2417
Anyway welcome to the forum and keep us updated _________________ 1971 Devon Bay with 1800 Ford Turbo Diesel Engine (wip)

im 99.9% a 5 cylinder motor is a different crankcase stud pattern to the 4 cylinder diesel motor so the bellhousing wont fit on the 5 cylinder motor!¬ after all why would vw spend time and money on tooling a new bellhousing for the south african market 5 cylinder t25 if they already had one that fit? the south african 5 cylinder vans had upgraded gearboxes compared to the rest of the world they were stronger and higher geared. the dk box is a good upgrade as far as cheap gearing goes but you will need to fit the complete shifter mech and front mount as they are nose shift and later vans are side shift. i would sugest looking on the brickyard fourum as there a a few nicly done 5 cylinder conversions on there.i would suggest there are much cheaper and easyier engines to fit to the t25 ie the golf gti engine more power same economy and more reliable and easyier to get spares _________________ 1964 rat 13 window deluxe 1Z tdi,
