How many litres to do the side of a bus, sill to swage line?
(That's front arch, long panel, rear arch & rear corner)

Mine's Java Green (2k) and it covers well, 2 coats will do it easily.

Cheers

Are you going to paint with a solid or base+clear?
2.5 litres would be enough for both sides, for sure. The distributor I buy all paint from sells a solid painting kit for DIY'ers and it includes 2 l paint + 1 l hardener + 1 l thinner. That is for a complete car.

Sven i've done my bus in clear over base and used 17lt's of colour and 20lt's of clear if you put 4lts mixed on a whole bus i'd be scared to polish it incase it went through, just my opinion as a paint sprayer of 22 years Wink

Where are you based? Happy

TBH I love spraying. It's the satisfaction of knowing you prepped it, you painted it etc.

Sven, mine is just HS (high solid 2k) colour, no clear coat for this. 2 parts paint, 1 part hardner and 10% thinners (if required). I also have some rapid activator juice kicking around somewhere.
It will be an outdoor job Eeeek

17, plus 22?! You really do like to polish don't you?! Eeeek
I spray paint all parts and repairs (carbon fibre works) that are done in the workshop. And I have never put that much paint on anything. Grin
Last week I prepared a new set of fairings plus a fuel tank for "my" roadracing team. Actually I put an extra layer on to be able to polish the worst scratches and I waisted about half a litre.
BTW, fairings are no fun to spray. too much paint dust and too many corners.

i used 7 litres done all inc engine bay and cabfloor/boxes inside of doors/slider etc

lots of primer with nice n thick paint, enough to cut n polish but a bugger to get the windows back in after tho Eeeek

I had never sprayed anything bigger than bike bits with rattle cans before so bit of a learning curve. Prepped and primed in the garage and then whipped it to the local restorers to borrow their spray booth
like you say elusive satisfaction of doing it yourself and knowing what lies beneath is bonus.
bleeding hard work by hand, wax on wax off (karate emoticon)

Well yesterday evening was spent barcoating the side.
Tonight's been stone-chipping the insides of the arches - sultz (sp?) gun stylee.
The sill & outer lip of the arches were done with SC thinned and run through my "primer" gun.

My "primer" gun was a cheap/nasty GAV one (came with a parrafin gun, tyre inflator from Halfrauds) but I really like it!

Hopefully high-build primer tomorrow affo.

I have to work outside on a shared access dirt/gravel path!

Painting's like wallpapering IMHO. 95% prep 5% finishing - it's all over in 1hr, then you have to clean up
