|
|
Hi Guys, I'm new to this forum & to be honest new to any forums!
I've just purchased my first Bay window camper and love it!! The only prob i'm finding is it's a bit under powered and drinks the juice! My uncle have been into these campers for many years and in the past has done a few engine conversions but always using adaptor plates and the standard gearbox, Ive read on another forum of someone that put a Audi 1.9 tdi in his bay with a six speed box but it doesn't really give much info and i'm hoping to speak to some people that have done this for some hints and tips.
My current everyday car is an 02 Passat 1.9 tdi 5 speed and it's a great car, if I could get an engine like that in my bus I would use it every day!
So please any bay owners that have done any diesel conversions let us know what the outcome was |

I've watched the progress on the conversion you mention over the last few months on a T25, all I will tell you is that to do it properly you need to play with the gearing and have deep pockets -it does drive well _________________ '70 Bay Westy

Curious to know why you would need to play with the gearing? surely bunging a passat/audi TDI and Gearbox turned upside down shouldn't have any gearing issues or does it struggle to pull a bus over a passat/audi a4/6 due to extra weight? Which can't be that much and the tdi engine is quite Torquay _________________ 1971 Devon Bay with 1800 Ford Turbo Diesel Engine (wip)

just look in the Kool rides section. There are at least three threads of buses with a4/passat gearbox and 1.9 TDI, by:
