I have a 72 camper with the 1700 air cooled motor 4 speed trans. whats my most straight forward water cooled swap?just want to be on the free way and keep up with traffic. I would assume that the donor would be a vw golf jetta ect. what motor can bolt up to my trans without a adaptor? also im in the u.s. so I can't get most diesel motors . I've been looking for a site like this for a long time and look forward to posting everything with your help. Thanks <3
This is the link to my conversion , there is alot of work putting a diesel into a van , as the gearbox needs to be altered to accept the power bands of a van,
I think the best option would be to go with a petrol engine although they do ususally run hotter.
