Hello all, I'm new to VWKD, but it is most definitely the reason I went out at the weekend and bought a T25 diesel gearbox LOL!
My question to all of you is; Will the Audi 2l and 2.3l 5 cylinder engines (from mid to late 80's) bolt up to the t25 diesel bellhousing?
My logic is this, the mk1 and mk2 golf gti lumps (and possibly the non gti?) were fitted to the smaller Audi's of the same age, and i have read that Audi have used the same bolt pattern for all their gearbox's since the 70's, thus the 5 cylinder engine may fit the t25 bellhousing.
I could have a free 5 pot engine, but I'm loathed to spend a whole weekend taking it out the car, only to find it doesnt fit! _________________ It WILL be ready for the summer, just like it was going to be ready for last summer. And the one before that...

I'm sorry to say the 5 pot doesn't bolt up to the diesel bellhousing. There's a bellhousing (as the 5 pot was avaiable in T25's in the SA market) available, but i believe finding one and importing it from south africa is costly.
a 2 ltr 4 pot gti engine would still be alot of fun! and probably a better fit given the length.

Thanks mate, gutted as 130ish bhp and the sound of a straight 5 would have been great but never mind.
It was always my intention to fit a golf engine before I was offered the Audi lump so I'm on the hunt for a golf now!
How old does the golf have to be? I know the MK1 and 2 fit, but do all the MK3 engines (except the VR6) fit?
Also do the 4 cylinder Audi engines fit? (again out of the older cars, eg. 80 90 100 200?) I think these are the same as the VW blocks, just with Audi written on the cam cover! _________________ It WILL be ready for the summer, just like it was going to be ready for last summer.
