Got a bit further with it today. The box is all back together, you can see the conversion plate on and the thrust bareing exention (will be shorter than that but made it longer so easyer to mark out) Grin

Got the engine in and worked out how to work the mounts so they dont foul the xzorst and water pipes

The easest way to get the xzorst out is side exit but im not sure how the law stands for side exit on the n/s?

Pleased with the progress todat its just a shame that its got to come out again as i cant get a clutch plate till mon Sad

Before:

After:

Not a bad drop would like to go more but havnt got and shorter schocks yet, another 1.5 inch would just bury the top of the tyres in to the arch but im not sure if i will manage it yet due to thse wheels being a little large - 225/45/17 all round

sorry ive not put any thing up for a while, ive not had time to get back to my truck.
I ended up with a fiat clutch plate in the ford flywheel and spring plate turns out i put the input shaft from my fiat twin cam conversion in (yes im a tit! but can use ford clutch with that so no worries!)

After getting the engine in it turned out to have 2 stuck valves so its out again. I brought a td escort for less than a new head gasket for the non turbo Grin Thats now in and almost finnished.

I ended up taking a hole saw to the bottom of the bell housing so i could measure the thrust baring up properly, looks like this now:

Just got water pipes, exzorst and wiring to finnish that should be done today and fire up 2 morrow Grin
Will let you no how i do Hello

Good stuff TD is the way forward Grin

Be interesting to see how you find it as this is what I'm putting in my bus.

One thing I recommend is do as per the first couple of posts on this thread if you get a chance really perks up the engine... I did it on my Mondeo TD a month ago and it goes soooo much better.

Good luck and keep us posted.

got it up and running on sat pm, its first run out was 100 mile towing a mk1 passat Eeeek All went well apart from a couple of bits, the minor one is the diesel is draining back to the tank when its stood so it needs bleeding every morning, got a one way primer from a pug coming to solve that Grin
The other prob was a little more serious, the turbo melted the clutch slave cylinder that was a interesting drive home Laugh Out Loud
I havnt measured it properly yet but it seems to be averaging 30 mpg (ish)
Looks like this now, almost finnished

What do you all think?

looks cool - like the matt black look! i can forsee i will have similar turbo heat sink issues on my subaru turbo as its right next to the slave. I was hoping some ali plating should help shield it a bit...be interested to see how you solve it. I think Agriemach do some decent looking heat management products - although i was probably going to go home made.

Good work though...im sure JP will be wanting some wiring tips Wink

As for the wiring, dont ask me, my heater plugs are wired direct to a 240v light switch and ive pulled a ignition live from the coil to the fuel shut off solaniod, thats as good as it gets, im colour blind Laugh Out Loud
