Depends on the Bay and the buyer I'd say.
IMO it'd be a shame to take an original 1968 Bay thats never been welded and still with factory paint etc and stick a diesel engine in it. This would undoubtedly devalue the vehicle.
However most bays have been chopped and changed so much that originality is much less of an issue. In this case a diesel engine has surely got to be worth more especially for someone who's looking for a practical vehicle. |

Totally agree with what steamo says if your bus is a original unmolested bus then probably best to leave it that way for resale purposes especaially with early bays.. if your is no show winner being a (very) late bay I would say it would increase value if the conversion is done well.
Could always put it to the test and put 2 identical buses on ebay one ad saying the bus is Derv powered the other saying air cooled and see which one fetches the most... suggest you set a hi reserve _________________ 1971 Devon Bay with 1800 Ford Turbo Diesel Engine (wip)

How about the third option, I'd have thought it shouldn't make much difference so I vote
No change |

Dito to all of that-my van should have been scrapped so I have never worried about originality-my van is probably more Brazilian than German nowerdays because of all the new pannels. Probably only got 2 original panels left and a roof! _________________ www.faltownskateboards.com |

well when i got round to the sale of my bay
( 1.9 pug 306 cit zx non turbo 74 bhp at 4,600 rpm and 96lb ft torque at just 2000 rpm very wide torque band ,that helped set the standards in class for performance and refinement ,, the ford 1.8 D produces a little less power and torque 60 bhp at 4,800 and 81lbs ft at 2,500rpm with the ford you have to use plenty of throttle and plenty of revs to keep up with the pug 1.9 n/a .. if you dont thrash it that way the ford feels dull and lifeless but the ford is 2.5 mpg better for it Quote diesel car )
that said the ford 1.8td should be ok in bay ,,,when i put add in for my bay pug 1.9 n/a ,, i had 32 calls in three days first to see took it home 100 mile away , realy over the moon with it _________________ Auto Union Munga Jeep ,T4 2.4td , T4 2.5tdi ,Mercedes S Class on LPG , 66 splity deluxe , GP mk1, 3 type 25s 1 with 1.9dt pug engine + 1 with N/A pug engine ,,there are 6 t25s with pug power in Darlington |

it will if you stick a ford diesel in it
more to the point, why would you sell it? if your going to go to that much trouble converting it surely its because you want to be able to afford to run it for a long time? _________________ Second Gear All The Way Baby!
