ive though of returning to the morris flat 4 roots....but I think to properly handle the subaru i would need to seriously modify the car and i dont want another 'van' type project quite yet pluis my morris is too nice to spoil...i just want something to make me use it more that keeps it looking stock(ish)!
As an every day driver car im going for a rover K series (not as bad as their reputation) the 1.4 is lighter than A series, just over 100Bhp and does 50+ mpg. and its twin OHC and all that plus you can buy whole cars for £250!(or less). if you decide to go down the tuning route the 1.8 VVC are good for 180+ bhp apparently and the 1.6 is a good compromise engine and might be more suited to the traveller (more torque). there a comapny called JLH who do kits but they are expensive (C £1500)...so im going to make my own stuff up using the adaptor from Frontline costello (k-series to ford type 9 box) then either a volvo or a escort rear axle. After my constantly evolving van project I have vowed im not going to pick up a spanner until I have it all planned out this time!!! then I might finish it quite quickly! |

| I've got a moggie van and that would really lend it's self well to a mid mounted scooby. As the load bed is pretty high (separate chassis on the commercials too) and there's a large space between the cabin and the back axel - there's a fair bit of room for a flat 4! I'd imagine the rear load bed would still have to come up by another 4 or 5 inches - but it's only ply! Would make an amazing sleeper. I've been overtaken by far too many bmw's round here, would be great for one of them to go for the routine overtake and then only to be sorely embarrased! |

lucky git - I want a van or pickup any pics?
i reckon from rough measurements that the subaru would fit in the front as the engine bay is wide and short. That way you can reserve your load area for 20 inch wide wheels and avery short rear axle
quite like the mid mount idea tho...this guys done a simialr thing to his mini

we will need a 'morris' power subforum at this rate. |

That mini's insane.
Yeah just managed to find an old picture
As of a month ago - the back ends now stripped off - and it's awaiting the cab to be stripped off so the chassis can be put into storage. Both the back end and cab were horribly rotten - I shouldn't really have been using it in hindsight!
We've got a decent back end and a good cab on a pick up chassis - it's just a case of getting the van out of the garageand then it'll be back on the road!
this would be fun http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZqsxkDbphQ |

on the subject of moggies...
If anyones interested i know where there's two' two door's for sale..
they've been sitting at the front of a farmers field (one on a trailer) next to the road for well over a year...he's asking £350 the pair, but no doubt you'd be able to get a lot cheaper......
no idea on condition, as ive never stopped to look ( usually doing about 50 as i pass), but dont look too bad (famous last words..)from the road..... _________________ '76 bay going superfly TDI |
