| I have an ej 22 in my T25 with RJES conversion loom etc, it goes fine but there is a drain from the battery. It will drain the new battery in about 2 weeks, more alarming though is the sparks that come from the battery lid catches when opening to get to the battery. It was a TD originaly but i relocated the battery up front like a petrol van. Does anyone know what is going on ? |

Sounds like your battery's + terminal is touching the battery lid and shorting out try insulating the terminal with a strip of rubber or something similar, or leave the lid open and see if your battery then holds charge |

I'm paranoid about those battery lids. Not VW's best ever piece of design, a bit like the way a broken rear seat spring in a Beetle can short directly to the battery positive terminal.
My T25's have the clip on plastic insulators which some batteries come with over the positive terminals, and I've also put multiple layers of duct tape in the bottom of the lids, above the positive terminal.
What year was your engine? I'll have a think about what could cause a battery drain. I assume you know it's on the engine circuite - i.e. you didn't change any other circuits around the same time. _________________ Regards,

| The sparking from the lid catches happens when i open or close the lid, it is like the lid is live. The engine is a 92 ej22 in a 92 lle. This is the only problem the van has, it starts and drives fine. Thanks. |
