Yesterday when I finally put the TDI engine in the van, the oil filler tube is much higher than before (as with the 1.6TD). I can't really understand why...
The engine mounts are the same, I have the 1.6TD oilpan, the engine position looks good and still the cap is above the hatch.

Anyone seen this before?

different cap? different cam cover? From memory the 1.6TD uses an 8-bolt cam cover but the TDI uses a 3-bolt one. They might be different heights...

The oil filler tube is mounted in the very bottom end corner of the sump... Happy

I'm not sure how it was before, and when talking to a friend he said that the Syncro has a different tube. I think the previous owner replaced the engine with one from a Syncro to get it running.
The bus also has an AAP gasoline gearbox and the diesel gearboxes have a much lower end mount, so that will for sure make another noticable difference.

Anyhow, I cut it and welded it where I wanted it to be. End of story. Happy
