Yesterday when I finally put the TDI engine in the van, the oil filler tube is much higher than before (as with the 1.6TD). I can't really understand why...
The engine mounts are the same, I have the 1.6TD oilpan, the engine position looks good and still the cap is above the hatch.
Anyone seen this before? |

| different cap? different cam cover? From memory the 1.6TD uses an 8-bolt cam cover but the TDI uses a 3-bolt one. They might be different heights... |

The oil filler tube is mounted in the very bottom end corner of the sump...
I'm not sure how it was before, and when talking to a friend he said that the Syncro has a different tube. I think the previous owner replaced the engine with one from a Syncro to get it running.
The bus also has an AAP gasoline gearbox and the diesel gearboxes have a much lower end mount, so that will for sure make another noticable difference.
Anyhow, I cut it and welded it where I wanted it to be. End of story. |
