Hello,

I put a posting on VZi, but as this sites often more suitable for tech questions, i'll have a go here.

http://www.volkszone.co.uk/VZi/showthread.php?t=467831

*Issue 1
My engine will start on the key easily and then rev up if you gently 'feather' the throttle in order to build the revs. When you stop, it drops to approx 4-500 rpm, then cuts out a few seconds later as its running to slowly. It would rev indefinetly if i kept at it.

The wiring diagrams mention 3 sensors that would be plugged in: Acc Pedal sensor, Gear Neutral sensor & VSS (speed sensor). I dont have these.

*Issue 2
I have brought a VSS from RJES, very nice unit, but im having problems finding the 'Signal' wire that i would attatch this VSS to in order for it to do its business. Im using the Subaru cluster and theres 3 plugs, the middle one in confident is for the Speedo, it has approx 17 wires coming in, the plugs green and rectangle shape.

Any ideas? otherwise i'll be forced to spend even more time studying and tracing wires, which is a real mini nightmare!

Cheers

Unfortunately I think you're very unlikely to find anyone else who has a) used such a high spec, recent engine, and b) used the instruments too.
There are many variations of the green plugs into the instruments, so without definite model / model year info or photo's of the parts, nobody is going to know whether they have the same wiring as you.
You probably stand much more chance of identifying the wire at the ECU end, as that's the bit anyone doing engine conversions in Subarus is going to be interested in, and Subaru published more info about the ECU than the instruments.
If it helps, it's 99% likely that the colour of the wire at the ECU and instruments will be the same. There may also be others with the same colours, but you can soon see if they're connected with a continuity tester. With the kind of conversion you're doing (i.e. pretty advanced), a bit of tracing wires throught the harness is pretty unavoidable in my opinion though! Ideally you need the right wiring diagram.

have you definitely got an adequate fuel supply and pressure and no vacuum leaks?

i`d look at the basics before sensors - believe me, i know from experience!
