Yo yo every body hows it going?
Just thought I'd put some picys up of my latest project on my van-Front air ride suspension. I've had all the bits for some time and so I'm super chuffed to have it all rigged up.
It only the front at the mo but through 4 solenoids and 9 relays I can get each bag to go up and down independantly or at the same time together and I can exhaust the system total if needed. I also have welded in new stuby superflex bumpstops so I can lower my van on to them and still drive without scraping my wheels on the roof of the wheel arch.
The best thing about the system-I went camping in her the other day and had my first night in the van with a level bed!

good work mate - id be interested to see your wiring diagrams for the solonoid set up if you can achieve
up down on each corner independently
up down front
all off 4 solonoids - I presume you can switch from 1bag to 2 bags in sync so singles for levelling up and doubles for on the move adjustment?
hope that makes sense! |

Yo yo, rich. Yer I have a wiring diagram that my Dad has already drawn up. I'll scan it and email it to you. The system basicaly has. 1x Up solenoid (high flow) 1x Down Solenoid (Hi Flow), 1x Left Solenoid and 1x Right Solenoid. I then have got 2 relays for each solenoid and one for the main power to the compressor.
The relays basical turn the differant solenoid combinations on, so for example if I press the left up button the up solenoid and the left solenoid are opened together and then if I push the down button the Left and Down solenoids are opened. The tricky bit is when you want up on both left and right at the same time-this is why I need so many relays so that they can controle the solenoids and this is why I went for hi flow solenoids on the up and down so that they could let twice as much air through to service both bags at the same time if needed.
I have rocker switches for the controls so its nice and easy to use, I just hold the button down for inflate and release to stop and the same for deflate. The good thing about it is that I can hold the two ups at the same time or the two downs to put each side up or down at the same time too keeping the van with equal pressure on both sides or if I'm camping I can have individual controle of each bag to get perfectly level.
I'll grab the diagram tonight and email it to you tomorow _________________ www.faltownskateboards.com |

Yer I have to say my Dad played a big part in the wiring I did the research and he designed and built the circuit while I got all the other bits fabricated and fitted.
He's my emergency wise old man.
As soon as I can save up some menys i'm gonna do the rear-I have inherited a full set of landrover bags so might try and use them-gotta get my body work done though first I can do another winter in primer!
I've all my bits to do my tac as well now so I'll try and get that in some time over the summer-hows yours geting on fella? _________________ www.faltownskateboards.com |

Are you really out of steam at 50 ! Mine is good for 90 running a 1600 box... strange
2ltr boxes are about, is a case of being in the right place at the right time as for price expect to pay around £300. If you can find one for £100-£200 then snap it up. Don't think the ratios are hugely different from the 1600 but Alex will be able to give a better idea. I know that richbaker78 and Jace have taken their 2ltr boxes to cogbox to have the ratios played with but it ain't cheap and I think they only do this for 2ltr boxes. _________________ 1971 Devon Bay with 1800 Ford Turbo Diesel Engine (wip)

Yo yo.
Yer I ran a 1600 box for a year and a half-I did find it over reved but I fitted 15" 70x205 tyres that helped loads. I think down a hill I was the same as JP peeked at 90mph but I used to cruise at 50-60 on motorways to avoid cooling issues!
I recon the 2ltr box brought my temp down by a bit and gave me an extra 20mph on my cruising speed. I can cruise at 80 all day long until I hit a hill and then I'm down to 50mph
The gear ratios are the same in the 1600 and 2ltr box it is just the final drive gear that ups it all up (as far as I can remember) and the obvius advantages of a reinforced diff and stronger case. _________________ www.faltownskateboards.com |

What difference does the 1600cc & 2000cc gearbox make on the ford engine - cruising speed wise.

You get about an extra 20mph on the motorway, on a flat road I can cruise at 80mph!! Still have trouble on the hills though. _________________ www.faltownskateboards.com |
