Ok i've got one of the DS tuning adaptor plates which i assumed was for a 200mm vw clutch but open trying it out the 200mm is too small, its more like 210mm and the clutch face measures 210mm. can anyone confirm this before i go and buy the wrong size!

cheers
john

I have heard of them selling a guy a 210mm flywheel for use with a turbo engine, which makes no sense at all. Nobody makes performance clutches to the 210mm VW design, and there is no way a stock 210mm clutch is up to a Subaru turbo engine. You could probably kill one with a nat asp EJ22 quite easily too.
I killed a standard 215mm bus clutch (from a 1584cc late bay) in my beetle years ago with about 130 bhp. It failed through overheating due to slipping when driven hard, despite being in good condition. The stock VW pressure plates just don't provide enough clamping force.
Unfortunately I suspect the only easy solution will be to swap the flywheel for a 200mm one with a heavy duty aftermarket pressure plate, like I had to in my Beetle (or to ditch the adaptor plate and use one of my bell housings with a Subaru clutch!)
