Right heres go's.
i have had the engine in the van for 3 months, i have now managed to blow 3rd gear in the gear box,so i thought it would be good to put some pics up on here of the engine going back in.
my set up was rad in the back with a heat matrix under the seat,RJES bell housing (this is a great bit of kit ) 1600 gearbox. This did work on A and B roads but when on the motorway doing 70-80 mph the engine temp would rise, so i have decide to mount the rad under neath the van with a scoop to direct the air.
i repalced the gearbox last week so heres a few pics of what i got done today.
any feedback good or bad would be welcomed, as im no engineer and need all the help i can get.
gear box changed and a coat of paint in the engine bay;
put some siver rockwall (i hate fiberglass) on the firewall and sides bit of luck get a bit more light in there.
so today i managed to go form this
to this
having another go tomorrow so a few more pic coming soon

I had exactly the same symptoms with my rear radiator setup.

sundays update.
got the engine support i made this out of 20 x 50 box steel.
got the fuel pump mounted its form a 3.2 jag injection.
got the engine in and all suported, a pig of a job as the rubber mounts had expanded had to get a racthet strap to pull them back in.
thanks to Elusive for the anti vibe mounts now i can get the rad mounted. |

The weather down in kent has been crap this week end only managed to get the rad done.
got the rad mounted used some antivibe mounts on the front (thanks elusive) once i get it running then i will sort the scoop/boxing the rad in.
the rad is from TSR and is very thick i have 2, 12" spal fans runing off a temp switch in the rad ,it worked well when it was in the back on A and B roads but the fans were on all the time on the motorway and the temp used to solwly rise when i went over 70 mph.
im hoping this rad will perform well underneath with the scoop/boxing done.
thats my lot for this week end if works quiet should get the plumbing done during the week |
