Do all starter motors fit all imprezas ? e.g do classic shape work with bug eye ?

ive used one from a 98 on my 2002 no probs.
RJES site has a good bit of info on starters - part nos and critical measurements which might be useful too. |

Yes - starters from manuals fit all manuals. Auto starters are of no use. There are two types though. Earlier gear drive starters take up more room. Later direct drive ones take up less. http://www.rjes.com/html/starter_motors.html is the page Rich referred to above.
