Florida Import
'66 Westfalia SO42. LHD.
When It Arrived in Ireland.
Yeah, my buddy in Florida is a funny guy,, Yeah I'm laughin alright..
This sill looked ok until closer inspection.. Filler, Filler everywhere.
On to Under cab seats area, Drivers side, (LHD)
We Made this Rotisserie from scrap steel we had lying around..
.. Should come in Handy..
So,
With all the underside sandblasted, primed and locked up indoors,
And with the little time and energy we had left,
we re-cycled the sand for the FIFTH time and set to work
on the battered and bruised Bumpers and front Beam..
The Work Continues...
The Donor T25.
1987 1.6 Diesel 4 Speed.
and proceeded to gut it of the parts I wanted off it..
After a lot of head scratching and fabrication and cutting,
We eventually got the Engine and Gearbox and Entire Running Gear from The T25 incl. Shocks, Springs and and Trailing arms..
A LOT OF WORK..[img][/img]

Very cool! I love the fact that you are using all the t25 running gear! Will you be using the t25 front suspension etc? _________________ www.faltownskateboards.com

Thanks,
hopefully I'm gonna make more progress on this bus soon.
I don't think I'll be using the T25 Front end,
I've actually had to get rid of the remainder of the T25.
The man that owns the place, i.e. the yard and the converted hayshed is my uncle, and I know he was getting sick and tired looking at the T25,
So it had to go.
As for front end, it's only now that I've come to realise that
The steering box needs replacing.
However, the T25 may not be suitable.
The fact that the '66 is a left hooker and a good bit narrower.
I don't know if the T25 front end would be a go-er.
So, at the minute, I'm not sure what to do, as per front end.
Mine being a Left hooker, a simple straightforward Bedford rascal transplant isn't really an option for me either.
Had explored possibility of Red9 Front Beam, but it's mega money.
Do they still do it even.?
no reply from an email I sent them.
ValleyGas did get back to me and said they only supply&fit as it's a weld on job,
They will not supply in a mail order fashion, suppose it makes sense, they can't stand over it then..
then there's Creative engineering Steering Rack conversion.
Not so sure about these, Seems to be getting more negative than positive reviews on the web.
Anyone here got any ideas.
I hear Some guy called Jez Parsons at GCS Engineering has made a conversion,
Anyone know anything about him and his setup, from a quick browse on the net, He's a Porsche man.
that would be cool, If no doubt expensive..

Futbus and Anton Cowell designed T25 Cable Change Gearlinkage conversion almost fully test fitted.
Here's what it'll look like connected to the T25 GearBox.
Albeit slightly different mounting brackets.
Hopefully. I'll get a chance to hook it up by the weekend.

Ok Guys.
Managed to get the old Clutch arm off without any drama's.
Received a post '76 Clutch Arm from USA (eBay)
8 days to Ireland. Not Bad.
Waiting on a cable now.
In the meantime.
Should the clutch arm spring back after pushing/pulling it in one direction. .?
Mine just stays in whatever position I push/pull it to.
I lifted the rear wheels and changed gears.
I can get drive from the wheels with the clutch arm in both positions.
Does this mean I have a release bearing problem etc ?
Bear in mind all of these actions are being done at the gearbox side.
I've no clutch pedal installed yet.

Just to expand on the Clutch lever arm.
Do I need a spring inside the lever arm on the shaft. ?
Outside the box. But inside the shaft.
To return the lever arm to a state of clutch disengagement.
Or should it spring back on it's own. ?
Remember.
I've put on a post '76 bay clutch lever arm on the shaft coming out from side of the gearbox. All of this to do away with the hydraulic operated clutch.
you need a spring like it is mounted on the stock cable operated gearboxes in vw´s with lawn mower engines. iirc there exist two different springs as the shaft-size grew up a few mm in ´76.
