First of all Hello to everyone

Well I'm gonna jump staight in at the deep end and ask the ultimate question "what conversion".
My requierments are an engine that has good 35+ mpg and aprox top speed of 100. Got around 3k to spend and that includes someone doing the work (I know not the best budget in the world)
My 72 Bay is running a 1700 with twin 40's which will cruise at 75 all day Happy but the mpg is killing me (she's my daily).
Looked at the lpg route but just dont like the idea
Also want to keep the bus a stock looking as poss without any signs of a mod
Tall order I know but any suggestions on what conversion and what garage/mechanic would be apprecited I'm thinking of having it done at the end of the season (after slough swapmeet) and I'll get myself a winter run around

Welcome to the Dark side my friend. Well as you have probably read there are hundreds of differant conversions available todo-your problem though I guess will be finding some one who can do it-Phil's ya man if you wanna go down the peugeot citroen Turbo diesel route. Phil will be able to tell you more than me but they do sound impressive power compared to my 1.8 ford diesel lump. I'm pretty sure he does do conversions for others too!

Or You have Rjes who specialises in Subarues into T25's not sure if he does Bays but worth a phone call as he knows his stuff.

I dont know know of any one else off the top of my head that does conversions but I'm sure there are plenty.

Any one else got any ideas?

Cheers Alex and thanks for the welcome , I'd be more than happy with a pug diesel.
How would I get in touch with Phil. Be good to know a price and a timescale so I know what to expect

Welcome Dal

I reckon your best bet to achieve decent MPG with a bit of performance is the PUG DT conversion as I don't think you'll achieve 35+ mpg with a scooby conversion.

Phil is obviously the man to speak to for the pug stuff and I would say that Elusive Stranger on here probably runs one of the most proven discreet looking cooling set ups on a bay so check out his set up .

I think the main problem you will have is finding someone to do the conversion but I'm sure someone on here will be able to help on that.

Cheers guys
Might have found someone who could handle the conversion, just got to decide what conversion and then try and talk the mechanic into it
