84 1.8 and 84-92 Diesel the same bellhousing?

Hello volks!
Thanks for sharing your cool rides!

I've been planning on converting my bus to a 84-92 VW 1.6 Turbo Diesel.
But.. they aren't super common and in the meantime I've been offered a decent 1.8 from a 84 GTI for a grand total of $50!!

So.. I could get my conversion done sooner if I use the gasser motor but.. I only want to do that if both the gas motor and the diesel take the same bellhousing.

I definitely want to go diesel but wouldn't mind using the cheap gas motor as a test of the cooling system, etc.

Both engines will bolt onto a type 25 diesel bellhousing

so get converting
