Sounds a bit odd.. I remember having similar issues when we fitted my old engine to Alexes bus and it turned out to be the fuel solenoid.. but your saying there is fuel at the injectors when you crack them off so probably ain't that.

You def got power to the glow plugs ? would seem strange that all glow plugs would die, I'd expect it to start even if a couple were working... an easy thing to rule out thogh if you remove them and test them/ replace..

Good luck with this one.. let us know how you get on.

BTW my temp used to shoot up on my 1800D when going up hills... used to dread it.. I'm hoping with new rad set up I won't suffer soo badly going forward.

well the options really involve me getting a blow torch to it or a hammer, its insanely difficult to work on where it is anyway so we are hoping the blow torch option will work.

If the timing has come slightly out I cant understand why it was running fine yesterday, priority one is to get the bugger home, being stuck 35miles from my house, it either means towing it or driving if we can get it started (lets hope it starts) then I will check all the heater plugs.

The plugs did look relatively new when I put the engine in but that doesnt mean much.

Seems I forgot to do an update on this!

I'll give you a clue as to my problem in this picture when I compare 3 old plugs to a new one...

Thats right 4 plug failure! Not sure why but I have checked the wiring, connected something (the temp autostop thing that stops the plugs from coming on above 50deg c) and now the new plugs just stay on for 7 seconds which never seems long enough!

In the end we used a blow torch and after couple of minutes of messing about it started up in a nice big cloud of smoke!

however since then and changing the plugs I have done several hundred miles!

The only other problem I have encountered was low water, I think after that big hill that got the engine hot it finally opened up the system and got all the air out meaning it was about 2litres low (its a 12+litre system!) I had issues with it on the motorway practically cooking but now its got enough water in it its been fine runs properly and fans only come on when needed above 95c (which they werent doing and it was never getting hot enough) I also replaced the thermostat.

It now reliably does 30-35mpg and I really do need to look at changing the tyre profiles if possible to bring the RPM down at cruising speed, having just bought a new mk6 golf 70mph is about 2000rpm in 5th and it does over 50mpg (had it upto 57mpg so far) so was thinking I need to make the same sort of aim for the bus!

Still havent changed the logbook yet.
