Ex IRA Model "71" Camper, Complete With Bullet Holes & Rocket Launcher Damage
ROT RIDDEN RESTO......I'm Back ...
Well it's official, I must be mad I've finally made a start on my Mates Rot Ridden Bus and on closer inspection it's considerably worse than I first though.
This Bus has had some first class "bodge repairs" done in the past which includes a new repair method of using Gaffa Tape to fill holes and gaps in the roof and gutters and then cover it with filler or just paint.
Here's a few pictures to get you all in the mood for what is sure to be some very good reading/viewing.... Enjoy
It's just as well he's after the RAT LOOK because it's never going to anything but Ratty.
No real plans on the engine choice as yet so we'll play that one by ear...
There's a few bits of rust and Rot here and there as you can see
Managed to fit the engine that came the Bus and moved it to to the rear of our house to begin the surgery.... The engine turns out to be a 1200 and not a 1600 which was not good to find out
Notice the trusty tarpaulin sheet to protect me from the weather.
Oh dear it's not looking good
Just look what happens when you remove the window and all the gaffa tape
I think you need a closer look at this bit.... It's rather impressive .... I Love Rust Me
Rear chassis is not looking to good either and there's nothing holding the rear Torsion tube to the chassis as it's all rotted away
Hello, what's this ? . . .
Only way to get rid of that Rot is to cut it all out. One Window dectamy coming up
Lot's more to follow once I have your attention. Let the fun begin... I'm sure I've been here before, or was it just another nightmare _________________ DARREN

OOoooooh, you're in your element there
Mine's going to have the entire roof hacked off. Will be keeping a keen eye on this _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

Darn Covin, I think you have to buy a lot of welding wire...
I've got a loooong paus in my own resto since may or something like that, but it seems that my young friend needs to get some practical projects done for his education so we are going to work with the bus every wednesday. I get the bus done and he can use it as a school project. It feels great to start with it again and hopefully I can come over to England next summer and go for a vwkd-tour. |

Cheers guys. I had a feeling you'd be impressed with this one I know I was.
There's nothing fancy going to be done to it, just a weld up job to make it safe, solid and leak tight, followed by Satin Black "Rat Look" paint job with minimal preparation.
This one is a freebie for my Mate and all for "My Love of Rust" ..... He'll owe be some big favours next year that's for sure. Personally I think it has the be worth at least a Cosworth engine though
Might be a slow project this one as I'm only working on it in between other little projects I've got on the go and there's also a new addition to the Fleet coming in a few weeks time which will require some work _________________ DARREN

Holy Gees! I've been working on Canadian rust bucket for the last 12 years and I never saw something that far gone! I guess that the choices we got over here for project is better than across the pond. You're the courageous type I guess! _________________ Yann
