could anyone tell me the size of the fuel tank outlet pipe. mine looks about 6mm. has anyone fitted a different size outlet to allow for extra fuel demand for diesel applications. mu escort 1.8d runs fine , but seems a bit of a step 6mm to 10mm... nobby

6mm sounds about right m8.... My Covin uses the Type 3 tank and that's also 6mm so I made my own fitting as it needed to be 15mm to match the fuel pump inlet size . . .

You could easily modify the outlet to 10mm by removing Nut and drilling out to 10mm. Then make a new pipe outlet with a small shoulder on it for gasket to seal against the tank boss. Just copy the one you have in bigger size.... Happy
The threads are wierd size on the nut, I searched all over for a fitting to use, something like metric fine with a differend pitch....

No I mean exactly what I said

"something "like" metric fine with a different pitch"

I don't know what the actual thread is, as no one could tell me. So in the end I modified the only fitting I had and fortunatly got it right first time.

It could be one of those sizes but I'll never know now as the mod is done and there's no way it's coming off again .... lol
My first plan was to simply buy a fitting with same thread but I was unable to identify the thread type of the VW Fuel fitting so I ended up modifying the alloy one I had.... Still got the end result I wanted but can't say for sure what the thread pitch is.... It's a odd thread though.....lol
You can easily buy new alloy nuts to fit from VW etc, but finding a good steel fitting to modify is not easy.
