RJES, TSR, whoever else does them.
Just wondering how much it costs... |

Bout £250 + the dreaded for a NA motor I believe.
Get them to keep the 'test' & 'memory read' connectors, 'ECL light' and 'ODB port' in the loom. You might never need them, but there again you may just. _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

What engine/year?
I did mine (98 EJ20 NA) myself. It was a pig as I couldn't find a wiring dia and buzzed out the ECU blocks.
Do you have the donor car? Makes life a lot easier but only if you tag every connector when you rip out the loom.
I ended up with 3 carrier bags of unused wires.
From this:
To this:
Then I wrapped it up nicely. _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

it's a 1995 EJ16. I've had a quote from rjes which seems reasonable given the work involved.
I've done a 1991 legacy conversion before, that was a carb engine and was difficult enough!
I took the loom out myself so I know that everything is there. |

| TSR did mine - 2002 Turbo....cost baout £400 and I lost the OBD from mine asa apparently they were unable to keep it in. In hindsight I think i would have prefered to DIY it but I was being impatient |

Impatient? So when's it going to be OTR? _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

I can't think of any possible reason why 'they couldn't leave the OBD in'. Every one I do retains the OBD (I or II), and had ECU driven fan control, etc. Everything, in fact, that was there in the Subaru. _________________ Regards,

Well why spend the time chopping stuff like that out? I read a post on Subaru Vanagon where the consencious was "chop it out, you don't need it". So how do you do diagnostics?
I've seen a few with no ECL (Engine Check Light), no test mode, self test & ODB

at the time I was none the wiser....and was in the hands of TSR but it will have to do for now...until i go over to alternative management when im so bored becasue my van is finished and i have nothing better to do than tinker with it and try to squeeze as much power out of it before it pops.
give it another year or two...i might even have it running |

I don't mean to 'rub anything in' - I just don't want anyone reading to get the impression that the OBD system has to be removed for some reason. As elusive says, it's actually more work to remove it than it is to leave it in _________________ Regards,
