| The one in the Haynes manual doesn't seem to include stuff like the fan switch - how did you guys wire it in? I'm just trying to figure out the wiring and although I'm sure the diesel is dead simple - it's still confusing me! :smt120 |

I run my fan straight into the loom were the old escort fan came out. I think there is a black and a white wire if that is any help . I have to say that my Dad actualy separated the loom from the old escort for me so I cant help much but I can take a photo of my junction/fuse box were I matted the two looms together-I have market each cable so it might help _________________ www.faltownskateboards.com |

I just had mine on a manual switch originally but my TD engine has a sender on the back of the thermostat housing which I intend to wire into a relay to kick the fans in ! I'm asuming the sender just completes the circuit when upto temp !
I was originally gonna use the sender and fans off a Mondeo these are twin speed which would have made life even more
BTW I still have the rad, sender, fans and relays from a Mondeo if you wan um. _________________ 1971 Devon Bay with 1800 Ford Turbo Diesel Engine (wip)

Cheers alex a picture might well be useful! I might be being a bit slow but on the loom i've got the wires seem to change colours! pretty much there though. Did you two use as much of the Ford loom as possible - such as for the starter and the alternator - or keep the vw stuff?
I've got twin fans on the rad I've got and I was thinking it would be much better if I could stagger them rather than just have them both come on at the same time? So I may well have the wiring off you at some point if you don't need it?
cheers

I used none of the Ford loom on my 1.8D as it was very basic just plumbed in 1 relay that seem to control the glow plugs really, due to the electronic trickery with the TD I will need to use some of the loom/ECU from that one.. can't wait to attack that Think it'll be a case of throw the whole loom on get it running and start trimming bit away. _________________ 1971 Devon Bay with 1800 Ford Turbo Diesel Engine (wip)
