this is just a thought, the shaft from a 2.0L bus box is longer than the shaft from a 1.6L box and i think the bellhousing on the 2.0L box is allso deeper so if i'am right by using a 1.6L bellhouseing and a 2.0L shaft the shaft should stick out a bit more but for this to work you would have to be able to use a vw clutch plate with the ford presure plate and flywheel and i don't if you can do that but if you have a vw clutch and ford set it it will be easy to try that bit out you may also need to mess about with the bearing in the end of the crankshaft.
ps i think all this info is corect but somone on may be able to confirm. good look. |

Not sure this would work as the extra bit on a 2ltr shaft is on the end (going into engine) and is rounded I'm guessing you need to extend the other end so the splines will locate in the clutch plate... I may be completely wrong here.. hopefully I am wrong as I think I have a spare 2ltr shaft knocking about you could have.

hi jp can you confirm if iam right about the 2L bellhousing beeing deeper than the 1.6L one and if i am do you know how much deeper it is.

right matey most engineering places can do them but get ur wallet ready i was quoted well over 150 for a shaft,depending in the conversion plate thinkness ur useing,u can either add the same amount on the REAR END ,dont cut in the middle or try adding a bit on the front, as its weak and has to be straight/strong/ balanced otherwise it may shake ur gearbox bearings to bits??
i know the (t25 gearboxs have input shafts which are around a inch longer out of the bellhouseing ??
i basicly just removed mine and added 15mm (thinkness of my adptorplate,,)on to the rear spline end as it sits in a splined tube the drilled the centre to hold them together dont welded it as uselly the heat exspends and makes it woble when its refitted and mine works great runing over 250bhp and i thast the hell out of it down the track lol it burns the clutch out first lol hope this helps and they arnt really bad to sort out get old input shaft measure cut drill(in a vise)and refit?   |

| thanks for all your advice, just for the record my adapter plate is 60mm thick and my release bearing 40mm. |

hi, i didnt get a longer shaft but machined down the air cooled vw 1.6 flywheel nut which has the spigot bearing in it . i held it to the flywheel by three of the flywheel bolts and it protruded from the ford 1.8 diesel flywheel by 20mm my adaptor is 35mm thick ford clutch cover vw 1.6 plate extended release bearing by 25mm. the input shaft is suported fine and there are no problems.....nobby  |
