i dont know if the box on the 2.1 is the same as the 1.9 so this may not aply but the 1.9 pug was not the strongest box around and have been known to spit there difs out .
recon you would be beter useing 2.0 bay box much stronger. |

But one of the problems of using the Bay gearbox is the top gearbox bellhousing mountings are solid so we get loads of NVH problems, as someone who's run a Bay with a 1.9 diesel in for 4 years then I know all about it. I wonder whether by mounting the engine transversely then you could install it all much more cleanly with out all the NVH issues.
I've been refitting my new TurboD today and have been working out new ways of fitting the engine to minimise the noise and vibration, I'll be posting pictures soon. |

how about removeing the cross member that the bellhousing mounts to then mounting a tube say 1.5" x 1.5" from the lugs on top of the box across the engine bay and sitting on pug mountings will take a bit of work but would be doable then at the front of the engine use another pug mount and mount it from the head as per original to do this you would have to fit a cross bar between the rear rails and from this billd a stand to mount the pug mount to the head this way your engine would be sat on 3 proper pug mounts then the only thing to give you any bad vibes will be the vw tail mount but i dont think that will be a problem.
ps this was ment for peper |

Funnily enough I was looking at doing something very similar to that today, but have decided to just use the Peugeot mounts with the VW bellhousing mounts as well this time.
Next time however that cross member may well come out and then just support everything on the Peugeot mounts |
