Yes mine was used to fit an 1800 Diesel and its defiately be used.. The guy said that it would fit all ford engines, petrol and diesel (except cossie and transit diesels). He also said it was definately from GBE. I'll get some photos of the kit (plate, bearing spacer and input shaft) tonight so you can compare.

That will be great steamo... I'll try to do the same and dig mine out.
I'm now wondering if my CVH adaptorplate could be modified to fit the Ford V6.... Or would it simply fit as it is ? That would be nice.
I bet splittyman69 will know so look forward to his response Grin
Cheers

Just to let you know, i'm not sure on flywheels and clutches, but all ford's up to zetec used the same bolt spacing. Now 2ltr zetecs are nice and cheap and put out around 160-170 bhp by just adding throttle bodies and engine management.

i made the one for my escort 1.8 diesel very easy with a bit of head scratching. i used the thin steel shim between the engine and escort gearbox as a template. i got a length of flat steel bar 35mmm wide and 8mm thick and bent it to the shape . welded extra lumps of steel where the bolts go on the engine side and cut new threads. i then welded a flat sheet on the gearbox side and plasma cut to fot the bellhousing exactly and drilled to fit the vw 1600 box. i extended the release bearing by 30mm and made a spigott bearing from the old vw petrol flywheel nut. i used a 1600 t2 clutch plate with escort cover all fitted first time. go on give it a go. nobby.

hi mate how did you extend the release bearing

i welded a tube about 35mm deep to the back of the vw release bearing. i then welded the front part of the escourt bearing onto the front of the bearing . washed it out and boiled it in grease. nobby

Covin - quick apologies for not getting any photos of the input shaft posted yet.

I have been distracted from work on my bus by another new arrival of the 4 wheeled kind.

I will hopefully be getting up to my lock up tonight and I will get some picks of the adapter kit and my van.

Can't see me progressing much with the van until the new I've got the latest out of the way, which will be after easter now for sure

Hopefully have some photos tomorrow for you.

Simon

Hi Covin, unfortunately (but not for me) the new arrival is not a VW.

Its a mini - first car was a mini, had them ever since. Just sold my last one and wasn't planning on another. Except a lad I know offered me one for £100 (worth far more). His landlady went mental when she saw it on the lawn and was going to come and tow it to the scrappy (it was far far too good for that). So I've rescued it for my daily driver until the campers done.

Here's the photos od the adapter kit

and a closer one of the input shaft.

Hope it helps in some way - want any more just let me know.

Simon

Nice one Steamo

That adaptor plate and bush is identical to my 1800 CVH one and the RS Turbo one but neither of mine need the longer input shaft ? STRANGE...
Must be because of the Deisel engine ? It's the only answer I can think of but perhaps splittyman69 can confirm this.... I'm sure he will..... Grin

hmm... errrr . . .. OOps.... Just checked the old knackered gearbox that was attached to the 1.8 CVH engine and it looks like it has the longer input shaft fitted.... WOOPS....lol
How pleased am I that I didn't bin that old gearbox ? It's been buried under the rubbish pile for almost a year.

So please ignore previous post as I was talking bol ***** . . lol

It's this Camper, it's driving me mad and I think I'm loosing the plot.

Ha, I keep so much stuff because I think it'll come in handy.

Then one day I have a masive clear out and get rid of all the stuff - its only after the clear out that I find a use for all the stuff. Sods law!!!

Looks like you were lucky.

Oh yes.... Clearouts are fatal... Every time you clearout those bits that have sat around for years are needed. Happens every time..lol

I'm about to have a clearout soon so I'll be cursing before long.
