steam out the top off my exspansion bottle any help please

hi there need a bit off help please iff i start my van and sit on my drive way with the van running the van sound sweet temp starts the fan to cool down fin but iff i drive she drive like its only firing on three plugs tested the plugs all sparking the two spark plugs to one side look new the white part still white but the plugs to the left side look normal, and allso the header tank heats up then pumps into the exspansion bottle bubble like made then steam out the top off the bottle but fine when sitting running on my drive way dont no wear to turn from here any help please only started sunday im told that it might be a head gasket gone which is fin if i no it is but looked at oil no water no bubble in header tank when sitting on driv running pluss sytem seams to blead ok till you drive her on the road thanks kev

Sounds like you've got an air lock somewhere in the cooling system. You'll have to bleed the radiator and remove the airlock or you will damage the engine.

sounds like airlock resulting from a Head gasket failure to me im afraid. go with cleverchaps suggestion first tho and check and double check its bled properly.

thanks for al your help i have done a compresion test and are all around 13/ 14 bar also have no water sighnes in my oil but blead her again today and temp fin even when i drive her but if i drive slow and normal with out puting my foot down she drives lovey but when i put my foot down she miss fires and pops and lack off power checked and changed spark plug 4 new and also cheanged the coil for another one the and still the same so tommorow going to check some more parts all the best kev

Sorry it does sound like a headgaskets gone, my diesel I've just taken out of my bus had exactly the same symptoms.

If I ran it very gently it would be fine everywhere but come to a hill and put the power down and the temperature and cooling system pressures rocketed.

Kev, it really does sound like you have the same problems that I did.
You need to make a 'flow through' header tank set-up.

Any Scooby set up with a low rad's gonna need this.

Kev, take a photo of your engine bay - resize it to summat that isn't HUGE and mail it to me please. I'm still pondering how to do yours the neatest!

Just checking back, did you get to the bottom of your overheating problem?

Cos its funny but I have exactly the same problem again and I reckon its the head gasket on my new engine is failing exactly the same as the non turbo I took out.

In my case what I did was fill the header tank to the brim and watch it and you can see tiny bubbles coming out whilst its ticking over, a sure sign the head gaskets blowing into the water.
