Hi guys
I'm most of the way through cutting up my wiring loom for my 2.2 ej engine. 92-95 style.
As this and the 2.0 seem to be the most popular conversions is it worth us putting together a wiring diagram of what you need to end up with, to help any future conversions. Wiring's not my strong point but I could put together an intial diagram for others to finalize if there is anough intrest. I know I could have really used it.
I'm also going to get an adaptor from germany. Due to the price this could be a popular move and it may be worth us ordering a few at the same time, anyone fancy a bulk buy let me know.
Cheers

| good idea beetleseb - any extra resource you can add to the site to help others is all good. I wish I had had a wiring diagram! would have saved me a fortune!! |

All I need is someone lined up to double check it and finish a couple of bits off, I'm still doing my conversion so anyone with a bit more knowledge and a running car, fancy checking it when I'm done? I'd hate for anyone to use it and mess up due to my mistakes.

Okay, a running engine then. I wouldn't want anyone else copying a mistake

I'm just going through that grief. I couldn't find a correct diagram for my 98 EJ20 Impreza lump. The ones I could find (or have been given) have wrong pin-outs along with the usual wire colours not matching. (wrong colours are easy to deal with)
Have done a full ECU pin out as a list but I intend to draw it up properly at some point.
Besides ECU related gubbins (Main/Fuel/Rad relays, transponder), what other stuff is required? ie
Water temp sender for the gauges
Oil pressure idiot light
Ign warning
Transponder light
Engine check light. |

Hi
I simply made sure that all the engine sensors where not cut and slowly hacked into it. Starting with obvious stuff like ww motor etc
Stupidly I cut alot of the earths which you should leave running to the correct sensors. Its not too bad once you get into it, but I am paying to have mine finished/checked as I really don't fancy ripping it out the van after its fitted. I would try and get a kennedy engineering drawing as this is ment to help quite a lot.
Pm me your email and I'll send you all the bits I have found.
Good luck

Removving some or all of the earths is a very common mistake, as they're common to all the circuits in the harness, it's very easy to rmove the wrong bit of earth wiring when removing, say, the headlight circuit.
I too am workin on some wiring conversion information (very slowly....) _________________ Regards,

if you go to your library, you use the autodata book for the wiring diagram
(i don't mean the haynes one) the proper garage book.
just remember this as i used it to fault diagnose some wires on a bmw |

Hi guys
I am carring out the same conversion, I too stripped all of my loom this weekend, I used the factory Subaru wiring diagrams, i brought of EBAy, this is brilliant, it shows all the pin outs, correct wire colours and 3d drawings showing the location of sensors etc etc.
I only made 2 mistakes, removed the fuel relay, but will put back and cut a couple of the earth leads again will be put back once loom is retapped.
I have only used the parts required to run the engine and turbo sensors, not bothered with anything else.
kept the power supply to the main relay, and feed from ignition.
The only thing i found was that i was left with about 8 wires coming from the ecu end with nothing at the other end, two of them i have traced back to the ABS and AC controls, the others i belive are probably wirers to the dashboard etc, certinly nothing to do with the engine.
any photos of a complete and finished loom,
Cheers Lee |
