i have made an adaptor plate to fit standard 1600 box to the diesel. i fitted a standard escort diesel clutch cover with the t2 1600 petrol clutch plate. i modified the petrol vw spigot bearing to fit the diesel flywheel. i also modified the releas bearing to fit by welding a tube on the back to bring it closer to the clutch as the adaptor plate is 35mm thick.i fabricated an engine cradel and used sierra diesel engine mounts. the exhaust manifold is from a p100 turbo which puts the down pipe in the correct place and also allows for a turbo mod in the future. i have flat mounted an escort van radiator under floor with fan and bipass air scoop, should cool ok.the next step is the wiring and exhaust, i thing that will be the easy part. will post some pictures soon.
has any one got a wiring diagram for the glowplug relay as i have lost mine. nobby_7 |

Wahhey another ford 1800 diesel getting a bit common on here now
Sounds like you've done some nifty work there with the adapter fabrication look forward to seeing some pics.
I have the wiring diagram in my Haynes Diesel manual will scan it in for you over the weekend when I hope to get over to my lock-up to do some work on the bus (this is where the manual is)
Is that marlborough Wilts ?

I love it another ford diseasel. I've been running mine now for 2 years on the road and its great. Once I've finished some body mods I want to fit the 1.8TD to help me get up the hills.
Let us know how your radiator works out it would be great to compare notes when yours is up and running?
JP-are you keeping your super long/thin rad on the beam or do you think you might add another rad as well some were else?

Gonna bin the long thin rad and go for a Mondeo rad mounted flat between the chasis rails with a scoop I think.
