Life has just gotten in the way a bit.
So I have a 1.4TDi engine from a polo apparently that has about 150k on the clock, I havent had it running ever, mainly because wiring and secondly because seeping sump. I managed to get a new sump and I built my own adaptor plate which needs a little bit to be finished.
Basically fitment wise the engine is the same as the 1.9tdi and other earlier golf engines, which a minor couple of differences:
1) the flywheel although much like the other single mass flywheels, it has a specific big cut out of the back of the flywheel weight for balancing, some people have run stock converter flywheels with no issues, but you'll find it runs smoother with the factory flywheel.
2) it seems there is a coolant elbow or something I recall thats in the way on the block of my adaptor plate.
My adaptor plate is literallys a 400mm diameter 25mm thick piece of steel with a 280mm hole cut out the middle. I need to fettle this hole so it clears the flywheel, which is one from a 1.6D T25, they are lighter and allow more clearance round the adaptor.
Wiring I havent looked in to too much yet, but I need to build a new wiring loom and splice the TDi one in, the guy before me chopped out alsorts saying its not needed when realistically some of it you do need, like the twisted pair canbus coms cables between everything, makes getting it to work alot easier!
I am hoping this year I might actually get it in my garage, as I bought a new house a year ago with a garage and have been flat out on that. I am determined to get this finished, with cruise control! _________________ Second Gear All The Way Baby!
